Who are the Top Twitterers in the World?
We wanted to know just that and wanted it in an easy format to browse. Twitterholic was the first to come out with this idea but their data seemed to be always wrong and also very buggy. There is also Twitdir which is pretty good data wise but we didn't like having to view only 5 entries at a time. (Twitdir also provides a good twitter user search capability)
So, wanting a better solution, we built a top 150 list for you, the readers of Twittown. It is called Twit Rank .
You can sort by top friends, followers and updaters and for each you can see the top 150 accounts on twitter .
We are constantly scanning the twitter public timeline and get new accounts and their data. Right now we have a decent sampling and feel that the list is fairly accurate. As time goes on, we will capture more IDs and the list will get better and better. If you are not listed and your stats say you should be, just be patient, keep twittering and we will find you automatically.
We know twitter is not about how many friends, followers or updates you have but.. It is sure fun to compare, isn't it?
Twit Rank is available by clicking on the Twit Rank tab at the top of this page. Have fun!

Twittown Launches Sister Site
We have a new addition to the family! It is a new site called “FB Town ” that is all about the social networking site, facebook. It is starting out as a blog but will have new and exciting features for facebook fanatics and facebook developers alike. Currently, the design is bog standard but over the next few weeks, our developers will be overhauling the site with a brand new design.
The site (of course!) also has a twitter feed (http://twitter.com/fbtown/ ) which will be updated more frequently in the coming weeks.
Currently there are over 30 million users on facebook and it is growing fast. Also, the facebook f8 platform has been a raving success with over 5000 applications developed in just a matter of months. Some of these facebook applications are great and some are well… not so great. We will be covering many of these applications to help you sort the wheat from the chaff so you can keep your facebook experience an enjoyable one.
You can come over and have a look anytime at http://fbtown.com but please excuse us for any dust from construction of the new site in the coming weeks! There is already a bunch of interesting articles posted so go check 'em out!
Disclaimer: FB Town is not affiliated with facebook.com in any way.

What Twitter apps, services and plugs are we missing in the Twitter Forge?
In the Twitter forge , we are almost at 120 listings of different Twitter hacks, apps, plugs, services, mashups and related items to Twitter. If there is anything we have missed or omitted please let us know and we will get it listed here. We aim to be the best resource on Twitter and Twitter apps on the net.
Also we thought that we would take this opportunity to ask the community how we can make Twittown a better community resource. If you have any suggestions please post them in the comments below or fill out the contact form.
Thanks for your input and happy twittering!

Over 100 Twitter Applications, Plug-ins and Services Now Listed in the Twittown Forge
It has been a wild ride for Twitter over the last six months and Twittown has been here to support and document the way. We started the Twitter Forge to enable Twitter users to find the best 3rd party Twitter tools for their use, enjoyment and productivity. This week, we have passed a milestone. There are now over 100 Twitter Applications, plugins, mashups, services and other useful twitter items listed in the Twittown Twitter Forge .
It is amazing at the speed and conviction of the 3rd party developers in getting such a range of Twitter related applications to market. There is still some speculation around the web whether Twitter is a fad or not. We think the concept is not a fad, 100+ companies developing applications around Twitter obviously see some sort of future for Twitter.
There has been a proliferation of Twitter clones and other competition lately. How will this affect Twitter? While no one knows for sure yet, we can be sure that Twitter has a signifigant "first mover" advantage over the others. There has been talk around the blogsphere that twitter is lagging behind in functionality and that there are now better services out there. That may be the case but it is not a small effort for users to tell all their friends to move over to a new service. We think Twitter has some time (albiet not much) to step up to the plate and add more functionality to the service. Everyone is waiting to see what their next move will be that takes them to the next level and catches them up with the features of the competition.
We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the 3rd party Twitter developers and the Twitter community. If you have a Twitter related application (or know of one) that is not listed in the Twitter Forge , let us know and we will get it posted.
