Not good news for Google and their new Nexus One mobile smartphone.  Their December 2009 application to trademark the name Nexus One has been denied the by the US Patent and Trademark Office.  Why?  Another company already has the rights to it and there is likelihood of confusion with the existing registered mark Nexus.

As bickering between Apple and Adobe continue over Apple not providing Flash support on their mobile devices such as iPhone, iTouch and iPad, Google and Android are forging forward to make the best user experience for Android handsets.

After watching the new Apple iPhone commercial called "Family Travel", we immediately thought, "Hey, Apple stole Google's clapping sound from their Nexus One launch video!"

So we pulled up the Google Nexus One video and had a listen.  Sure enough, the exact same clapping sound, right down to the beat and pace of claps.  Check it out, both videos are below.

A few hours ago, Google, send an email out to select Android developers offering them a free Nexus One phone.  Not all developers got the email though, developers that have an application with more than 5,000 downloads and maintaining a 3.5 star rating in the Android marketplace.

Google announced today that an update will be pushed to Nexus One phones over the air. This will include "pinch to zoom" functionality in the browser and certain Google apps on the phone. It appears that all android phones won't benefit from this just yet and it will be down to carriers to implement it on all Android devices.

It looks like Google's Android is serious about catching up to the established and polished iPhone user experience. It should be a fun battle to watch!

Here is a video with the new pinch to zoom function in action, see it below.

There are a lot of free apps out there for your new Droid or Nexus One, some of which are very good apps, but the purpose here is to focus on some really good ones you have to pay for and are worth checking out.

So let’s get started with a few paid games that sound like could be a lot of fun for whenever you have the need to pass some time.

Before HTC's Nexus One smartphone was released on January 5th, we were hearing a lot of talk about the smartphone, which runs on Google's 'Android' mobile platform, being a so-callled "iPhone Killer" - a phone that might be able to rise to the challenge of knocking the world's most popular smartphone from its lofty perch.

That was before the Nexus One was released. Now that it's been out for a few days, and users and reviewers alike have had a chance to get their hands on it, the verdict is in: the Nexus One is no iPhone killer - but it just might be an iPhone-killer-killer.

Today to much awaited fanfare, Google launched their "Google Phone" called the Nexus One.  It is a slim GSM smartphone, (thinner than iPhone) with a large 3.7" (480x800) screen, 5 mega pixel camera, 2 microphones (one for noise cancellation), GPS, wifi and many more goodies.  The phone is run by a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor and is supposed to be very fast.  It is build by HTC with heavy involvement and specifications from Google and is branded with Google, not HTC.
