Anyone who owns a Blackberry knows there are times when you really need some tips on how to deal with issues that might arise. And as we all know, issues do arise. The following tips just might be able to help ease your mind and save you some time when it comes to operating and/or trouble shooting your Blackberry.

1. Check Wireless Signal Strength - You should always check your signal strength if you are having issues, to make sure that you actually have coverage in a particular area. Of course if you see no signal bars at all then it's more than obvious that you are out of service. A quick way to check your wireless service is to use a Blackberry keyboard shortcut. Hold down the "ALT" key and then type in the letters "N,M,L,L" the home screen on the phone will then show the wireless signal strength in Dbms. If your signal strength isn't within the -40 to -100 Dbms range, you're not in an adequate wireless coverage area.

2. Pull Battery Trick - Whenever your Blackberry seems to be acting up, the simplest trick to get it to behave is to open the panel covering the battery, remove the battery then replace it immediately. Unless the batter is actually dead, this should help the Blackberry to work better. Kind of like rebooting your computer. This is considered a "hard reset". Now if you are looking to reconnect your Blackberry with your computer you can do what is called as a "soft reset". Hit the "ALT" "RIGHT SHIFT/CAP" and "DELETE" on your Blackberry all at the same time. The BlackBerry display then goes black, the LED indicator turns red for a number of seconds and the reboot process begins. It can take a few minutes for your device to reboot.

3. Check Wireless Network Settings - If you are having connection problems on with your Blackberry you might want to check your network settings. You can do this by opening up "Manage Connections" through the Blackberry home screen. The Mobile Network box should checked to signify connectivity. Next scroll down to "Mobile Network Options" and make sure the "Data Services" is enabled and the "Mobile Network" and "Network Mode" are set to the correct carrier and network options.

4. Check Blackberry's Connection to Computer - If you are having problems with the Blackberry Desktop Manager software program, you need to make sure that you are properly connected. You can do this by opening up the program's "Options" menu and click on "Connection Settings". Your Blackberry's PIN number should show up. If it doesn't you will need to click on the "Detect" button, if you are correctly connected it will let you know by doing this. If you still have problems try shutting of your computer and then uninstall and reinstall the Desktop Manager software.

5. Confirming That Blackberry Can Receive Email - Easiest way to see if your Blackberry is receiving email is to send yourself a message from your computer. If your Blackberry doesn't get the message it could be for a number of different reasons and what type of server. If you are using a consumer related Internet service account, you might need to register your Blackberry with them for it to work. If the Blackberry uses a corporate Blackberry Enterprise Server you will need to contact the servers administrator.

6. Resend Blackberry's Service Books - If you are having email, messaging or any other type of performance issues, it's suggested that you resend the Blackberry's service books. These service books communicate with the Blackberry's infrastructure, saying which services should be available and how they should function.

There are three ways to resend the service books: Send them directly from your hand held, log them into your carriers page and then send them from there, or call your carriers customer service reps to do it for you.

7. Launch Blackberry's Help App - All Blackberries come with a "Help" app and it's advisable that you take advantage of this function. The way you do that is to click on "Help" icon on the home screen, then click " Menu" and then click on "Help".
