Kindle technology is generally associated with Amazon’s electronic reading products. In fact the first kindle product was created by Amazon as an alternative to reading eBooks. Now six years later, there are 4 different versions of electronic kindle products, and one of them happened to be picked up by Apple and is now referred to as the Kindle iPhone.  This originally started as an app that was made available in early 2007 for iPhone and iPod users to have access to which then allowed them to read different items of the internet using the kindle application.

The Kindle application allows users of Apple products such as the iPod, iPhone and iPod touch to access with their amazon.com account right on their handhelds. Over 300,000 different ebook titles are then available right from the phone with the new Kindle application, which is offered free to iPhone owners. You do need to have an amazon.com account to be able to access the all the features of the Kindle app, but everything else is really easy to do.

The new Kindle app for iPhones and iPods offers many of the same features as the original Kindle handheld. With the ability to download and read any of books in your library, you can turn your phone into a book in just a few steps.  After your purchase an ebook, magazine, newspaper or whatever, you will be able to read, bookmark, view kindle made notations and adjust the text. If there is a book you aren’t sure you want to purchase from their catalog, in most cases you can read the first chapter for free.

One of the things that sets the Kindle iPhone app apart from the rest of the pack, other than its awesome capabilities or the fact that it‘s free, is not the app itself but rather the program that you will get with it. It’s a new program called WhisperSync. This has the intelligence to keep track of where you leave off when reading on Kindle and saves your place for you. Not only will this save your last read place for you, but if you have access to more than one Kindle source, you will be able to pick up where you left off from any one of those Kindle technologies. This is something competitors have yet to catch up to.

This new trend growing in our society will encourage more and more book owners and publishers to work with technology and not fight its growth. Amazon.com hopes to bring in more e-books and products to expand the catalogs every day, bringing you more education and knowledge through your Kindle device.

Even though the staff at Amazon feels that more people will open their wallets to spend the $300+ for a Kindle device, they see that offering the Kindle app free to iPhone users is a form of a thank you and a complimentary service. You may not be able to read entire novel on your phone, but this can certainly pass the time when you are waiting on doctor appointments or are in line at the store. It’s all the more reason to later invest in a Kindle device. It is believed that within time most Americans will have more than one Kindle device and app in every household, bringing a whole new outlook on reading and learning. The world of technology has once again crossed into the world of education, and brought the world of learning to a whole new level.

Is it true that buying a book on a kindle is a lot more expensive than buying an actual soft back copy of a book? I have heard mixed reviews about this and was wondering what the answer was... I think they are pricier on an ebook, if I haven't been mistaken?
