Social networking sites were not always known in every household like they are today. It wasn’t a part of one’s daily routine to get up, get coffee, go for morning jog, and then update their latest post on their profile. But the trend started shortly after the creation and launch of MySpace, one of the first and original social networks sites for public use.

It was unheard of for there to be a place where one can upload family pictures, carry a full profile about their life, update their mood or daily activities, or change their background. Essentially, MySpace created a way for people to run their own website from home, as they please, totally for free. Nowadays this innovative site is found in every home PC, laptop, BlackBerry and cell phone across America. MySpace is available wherever there is an internet connection available.

As MySpace paved the cyber highway for other social network sites, such as Facebook, and Twitter, it also raised the bar with new and different apps, starting the Poker Palace social network, among other small groups that branch outside of the main MySpace network.

There is now a nationality break among MySpace; you are now able to log in and create a page in the Latino MySpace. Search different groups to join. This is the headquarters and communication center for all social network sites across the board.

You can now play different games, look up single ads, find classifieds for work at home jobs, or look for an apartment half way across the world, all while staying in contact with your MySpace friends.

Looking for that old classmate from 10-15 years ago? By running a friend search you can now check for friends who are logged in or have signed up with MySpace, and now you can also run a cross search with Facebook and twitter all within the same search engine without ever leaving the MySpace social network.

We have reached a new level of socializing, going from seeing each other face to face to talking through mail and over the phone. One day we saw everyone carrying cell phones and pagers just to stay in the loop and stay in contact. Then came email, and now all you need to do is log into one social network to check your accounts from all three social networks you are linked into.

MySpace has plowed the road and paved it for all the different types of social networks to set up camp and stay. There are now free and pay dating sites, Christian websites, work at home social networks, and local shopping networks such as Craigslist and eBay. All of these are forms of social networking that allow us to stay connected with those around us or those whom are half way around the world. A child in a classroom in Memphis, TN can now share what he or she is learning about in history class with another child in the same grade half way around the world in Egypt. There are no cultural boundaries or speech barriers. The internet and social networks are doing more than connecting people, they are breaking down barriers. MySpace was the first to pave that road, whether they can stay in the game for the long term is another topic for another article however.
